July 17, 2018 – Leonardtown, Md. – MOMS Club of Mechanicsville and St. Mary’s County Library are pleased to announce the unveiling of a Little Free Pantry at the Charlotte Hall Library on Monday, July 23 at 10 a.m. Members of the public are invited to attend the opening of the new free pantry.
The public can find the Little Free Pantry, a small outdoor pantry supplying nonperishables and personal care items, at the edge of the parking lot at the Charlotte Hall Library, near the entrance to the Three Notch Trail. The MOMS Club coordinated with Luke Grant, a local Eagle Scout who purchased the materials through donations and funds he raised, and then built and painted the pantry. The MOMS Club will be stocking the pantry initially and fundraising and accepting donations to keep it stocked.
Community members who are able to donate are invited to leave household goods such as toilet paper, dish soap, feminine products, diapers, infant formula, or non-perishable food in the pantry. If someone is in need, they may take what they need from the pantry. The Little Free Pantry is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
“The MOMS Club is partnered with the Library on this project because we want our kids to be involved in serving the community. We hope that the pantry is an outreach for those that would benefit from it and for it to be an outreach for any moms who need support,” said Kala Writt, current vice president of MOMS Club of Mechanicsville.
