Suggest a Title for Purchase

St. Mary’s County Library welcomes suggestions from our customers for purchases of titles that are NOT currently available in the collection. Library staff will evaluate all suggestions considering many factors including but not limited to budget, availability, space, and the scope of the collection. Please submit the Suggest a Title form.

Genealogy Research Requests

A librarian will research requests for ancestors within the state of Maryland using the Library’s available resources. These resources include our Genealogy and Maryland collections, our newspaper database, and other local resources. You may request information about one ancestor per submission and you may submit no more than two research requests per month. Submit your genealogy research request.

300 Years of Black Cooking in St. Mary’s County, Maryland


We are sold out of print copies of the book, 300 Years of Black Cooking in St. Mary’s County, Maryland. There are currently no plans to republish the book in print. The book is available as a digital book through The Palace Project, a free app. If you download the Palace Project app, you can select the Palace Bookshelf as your library, then use the search button to search for 300 Years of Black Cooking. You can “Get” the book and then read it in the app. Your checkout of the book does not expire; it will remain in the Palace app for you to read at your convenience.
