POSITION: Public Technology Assistant, 15 hours per week
CLOSING DATE: 11:59 p.m. on January 22, 2021
LOCATION: Leonardtown and Charlotte Hall Libraries
HOURS: Days, Evenings, Saturdays (exact scheduled to be determined)
SALARY: $14.13 per hour
BENEFITS: Mandatory State Retirement Participation; 35 Hours PTO; 457 Plan; Direct Deposit; Credit Union Membership
REQUISITES:
- High School Diploma or G.E.D.
- One or more years of customer service experience or equivalent training, education and/or experience
- Knowledge of current and emerging technologies
- Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, Library trustees, local government elected and appointed officials, community leaders, vendors, and citizens
- Ability to operate relevant computer systems (including hardware and software), current audiovisual equipment, and office machines
- Ability to travel throughout the system and community, work a variety of schedules that include evenings and weekends, and accept system-wide transfers
- Excellent communication skills, both in writing and orally
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent decision-making and problem solving skills with emphasis on personal responsibility and willingness to deal with issues at hand
DUTIES INCLUDE:
- Provides friendly, high quality customer service to Library customers under the direction of an Assistant Branch Manager or Branch Manager. Performs a variety of technology related duties, such as assisting staff and customers with computer questions, troubleshooting computer hardware and software, and maintaining the network.
- Greets customers and provides directions or refers them to appropriate staff members if needed
- Provides technology instruction one-on-one or within a classroom
- Maintains and troubleshoots the network, such as internal LAN connectivity issues, adding and removing computers, changing passwords, and running cable
- Troubleshoots hardware and software issues
- Performs routine computer maintenance, such as performing software updates, correcting minor network issues, and replacing computer hardware components
- Monitors the IT Help Desk for submitted problems or issues
- Performs other duties as assigned
