This month we'll be discussing The Bangalore Detectives Club (2022) by Harini Nagendra, the first book in the Kaveri & Ramu/The Bangalore Detectives Club series.
When clever, headstrong Kaveri moves to Bangalore to marry handsome young doctor Ramu, she’s resigned herself to a quiet life. But that all changes the night of the party at the Century Club when she spots an uninvited guest hiding in the shadows and a murder is discovered. Kaveri becomes determined to save the innocent, vulnerable woman who is being accused of the crime. She soon finds that sleuthing in a sari isn’t as hard as it seems when you have a talent for mathematics, a head for logic, and a doctor for a husband; and she’s going to need them all to solve this mystery and escape the dangers of Bangalore’s darkest alleyways.

Westwood: An Ancient Native American Site
Join Dr. James Gibb for this virtual presentation, in which he'll discuss findings from an archaeological site known as Westwood North.
Westwood North, originally identified as a multicomponent Early and Late Archaic site, is a single-component Brewerton Complex site blanketed by redeposited sands and gravels with Transitional and Late Woodland inclusions. The buried A horizon and BE horizon yielded 21 heavily reworked notched projectile points of quartz, quartzite and rhyolite. These buried deposits also produced 150 kg of fire-cracked rock and 6500 pieces of flaked stone, but there is no clear patterning evident across ten 5 ft by 5 ft excavation units. The site is adjacent to a relict tributary of Mattawoman Creek on the Chesapeake coastal plain.
Register with an email address to receive the Zoom link the day before the event.
